Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas partners locally with Texas Workforce Commission’s Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services to serve individuals with disabilities. VR staff work with customers to understand their needs and provide customized services. There is no fee for services or assistance.
VR staff are conveniently located in the same facilities as our Workforce Solutions offices in Abilene (500 Chestnut, 10th floor) and Brownwood (2202 Highway 377 S) and can be reached by phone at 325-795-4200.
Individuals with a physical, mental, or cognitive impairment or disability that makes employment hard, may be eligible for services to help prepare for, obtain, maintain or advance in employment or post-secondary education. Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services assists individuals with any disability in partnership with Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas.
Employers seeking to hire qualified candidates with disabilities, are also encouraged to ask for a Vocational Rehabilitation Business Relations Coordinator in the area to help with candidate referrals, accommodation, or technical assistance related to hiring individuals with disabilities.

Career Exploration Camp for Youth with Disabilities - "On the Right Track"

Provided as a contracted service through Texas Workforce Commission Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
SEPARATE COLLEGE, FOUNDATION AND CAREER TRACKS - Using the Self-Directed Search System, participants will be grouped into small groups based upon their career track, functioning, and age. They will then engage in fun, hands-on activities, specific to that career track, designed to expose them to the soft and hard skills, post-secondary education, job market conditions, and availability of those careers. Specific activities include visiting potential work sites, listening to guest speakers in their interest area, researching post-secondary degree options, and practicing interviewing and other needed soft skills for workplace success.
