Landfill Operator III
(Brownwood)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This person will perform landfill operation duties using heavy equipment including
Dozer, loader, compactor, excavator, and other equipment as needed in the landfill or other
Departments. Responsible for maintenance of equipment; will assist in moving equipment to and from
Landfill and to various other job sites. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate;
- Ability to read and write and follow verbal and written Instructions.
- Three or more year's experience in operation of heavy equipment preferred.
EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WORK PERFORMED:
- Primary job at landfill is excavation; alternating operation of equipment with other operators
- Spread and/or compact refuse with compactor
- Cover portions of the cell as necessary with daily or intermediate cover using haul truck
- Use Dozers to rip rock, clear vegetation, and spread wood chips within landfill
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability and skill to operate heavy equipment and trucks safely and efficiently; possess good
- Driving skills;
- Possess mechanical abilities to perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Ability to perform manual labor and use hand and power tools.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
- Must obtain a Texas Class A Driver License with N endorsement within 1 year of employment.
Salary: $17.14/Hour
