Police Officer (Sweetwater)
Description
- Under general direction of the Police Sergeant, the Police Officer is to perform law enforcement and crime prevention duties to maintain citizen safety, protection of life and property, and compliance with City, State, and Federal laws.
- Examples of Duties
- Patrol an assigned area via foot or vehicle to ensure law compliance and investigate suspicious activities, individuals, or conditions.
- Make arrests of individuals who violate the law and/or ordinances.
- Subdue violent individuals.
- Enforce City, State, and Federal Laws.
- Respond to calls for assistance and provide the necessary police protection.
- Issue traffic citations or warnings to individuals violating traffic laws.
Qualifications
- Applicants must be 21 years old with a maximum age of 44 years. Documentation must be provided.
- Must be high school graduate or have equivalent GED.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and have a satisfactory background driving record and pass a background investigation.
- Must be able to read and write the English language.
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Preferably possess certification as a peace officer as established by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) at time of examination. Applicant shall provide evidence of certification on or before date of entrance examination.
Salary $60,815.98 - $67,037.64 Annually
