The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) covers minimum wage, record keeping, youth employment, and overtime in private sector businesses and Federal, State, and local governments. Most jobs (though not all) are governed by the FLSA and it is enforced by the Department of Labor.
The Texas Payday Law covers wage agreements, deductions and claims, timely payment of wages, and final payment of wages. This law affects all private sector businesses in the state of Texas, and excludes public employers such as the Federal government or State agencies. It is enforced by the Texas Workforce Commission.
